We are delighted to share with you the fifth and most recent edition of the EUCAN Cluster Newsletter. The EUCAN cluster is made up of the six projects that were funded under the Horizon 2020 call SC1-BHC-05-2018 (CINECA, EUCANCan, EUCAN-Connect, euCanSHare, iReceptor Plus, ReCoDID).

- Introducing the Genomic Benchmarking Tool
One goal of EUCANCan is to enable the sharing of genomic data within and across institutions in Europe and Canada. In order to effectively and accurately compare data on mutations of the genome, different institutions must harmonize their variant calling strategies and how they structure the results of their variant calling pipelines. Aiding this process is the rationale of the Variant Call Format (VCF) benchmarking tool. The EUCANCan communications team caught up with Alexander Bernier, who besides supporting the development of policy recommendations for international sharing of genomics data in the context of EUCANCan’s Work Package 6 is also working towards his PhD in the same field at the University of Toronto. On May 24-25, the EUCANCan consortium got together for a hybrid meeting. For two days, parts of the team met in Toronto, Canada, and the rest connected online to take stock of the project’s progress to date and discuss the last project year. Read more »
